ISO 45001 Solutions – A Healthy and Safe Future at Work
Every year on 28th April, we celebrate a day to promote health and safety at work. This draws our attention to one of the most critical aspects of the future of work. This also reminds us of the significance of ISO solutions in preventing and combating workplace diseases, injuries and fatalities worldwide.
For many organizations, health and safety is not an issue that is on top of their minds all the time. Yet, for millions of hard workers all around the world, their jobs are a source of food and other necessities and for which they must work in severely high-risk environments. Even in some organizations, valuing health and safety at the workplace can literally mean the difference between life and death.
As we know the international Labor Organization celebrates world day of safety and health at work, it aims to increase awareness regarding the significance of occupational health and safety along with building a culture of safety and prevention in an organization.
However, now companies are taking a step ahead and looking to the future where such efforts are exercised by making significant changes in terms of demographics, technology, sustainable development etc.
Therefore, in order to assist organizations in reducing work-related injuries, accidents and diseases, ISO created the first-ever international standard for occupational health and safety known as OH&S.
The Significance of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System
ISO 45001 or the occupational health and safety management systems provide guidelines and requirements for the use and implementation of the management system within the organization. The standard provides a thorough framework that helps in increasing safety while reducing workplace risks and enhancing well being and health at work. This enables the company to improvise its OH&S performance proactively.
The standard applies to all types of industries regardless of the nature of business or size. It is designed to fully integrate into an organization’s current management processes while following the same high-level structure as supported by other ISO management systems such as ISO 14001 or ISO 9001.
Many companies have fully established ISO 45001 in Jeddah as it is one of the most prominent parts of the solutions, provided by ISO, for health and safety at work. Not to mention, to further expand the scope of workplace health and safety, shortly, a new standard will also be introduced to promote psychological health at the workplace and will be recognized as ISO 45003.
